Nature photography and bird watching

The area around Lake Tisza boasts one of the richest birdlife in Europe. For lovers of nature photography, there are amazing opportunities on the shores of the lake and in the surrounding areas, either from a boat or from an established ambush site. During the bird watching programs, bird watchers, trained tour guides, and enthusiastic amateurs help us to discover as many and more diverse bird species as possible.

Sunrise and sunset are the most active periods of the lake’s birds, but in larger bird colonies they spend their time actively all day long for food. On the water, with a little luck, the so common ducks and geese, cormorants, you can meet swans, harriers, but also seagulls, cormorants, terns, or flocks of grebes can be seen. Not so rarely does the brown meadowlark show itself, but enthusiastic photographers can capture the sight of kingfishers, great egrets, gray herons, and silk herons. Occasionally beavers and, in rare cases, otters are also our companions, while on land we can meet individuals of larkspurs, cranes, and cranes. What’s more, we can even see the bakcsó, colloquially known as the blind crow, even on the photography tour, and our experienced guide will tell you whether it is actually blind or not.
